WordPress UK : Project Launch

WordPress UK Live

WordPress Uk Porject LaunchWordPress UK as a domain is starting the process of getting the administrative side of our web services up to date. The need to split provision of various functions on different domains have made this necessary. Having just submitted the sitemap to WebMaster Tools for the latest project, I can now bring the project blog up to date. The process is still new for all the ”web geeks” I work with, but I am sure they will soon get to grips with it, and the portal should get some fresh and updated content on a more regular basis. The WordPress UK website has taken less than a week to actually put together. Although rushed, I am sure we have dealt with all the issues, and looking forward to see what response we get from google for the site. Not even bothering to address Bing or Yahoo, as the traffic and searches from these two ”major” players seems to be very limited. The only question that needs answering in my mind is what effect the SERP in Bing and Yahoo has on the SERP placement in Google.

The project is very loosely defined, and we plan to be very creative and reactive with the response in content. As a major part of our SEO SUR approach, this site will really test the process, and progress, of various WordPress UK projects we are experimenting with.

WordPress UK : Site Structure

The site only has a single section installed. The framework for this site has been adapted to cover any potential keyword search in relation to WordPress UK. The static pages cover the aspects like themes, hosting, plugins and customization for WordPress. We have also included a page section for websites made with WordPress. The initial content has been drafted, and we are now actively looking at where we get some response from. This will guide the content, as we will follow the impressions and the SERP to achieve a long term positioning with this domain. The structure can easily be enhanced or changed, but as this project gets under way I am optimistic that we have covered most of the bases already.

WordPress UK : Site Concept

Creating a wordpress UK site where we could potentially launch some plugins, theme hacks and various wordpress related services semmed an obvious path. Originally we wanted to use this portal to do that, but as there was major issues with 404 errors etc. the site just didn’t function. We chose a new domain name, WordPress UK,  and created a framework which would enable us to start working on the longer term goal and SERP goals. In the interim, this portal has been cleaned up of all the old debris, and is now being indexed.

This leaves us with the three (3) domains we will use to promote and support the projects we undertake. Firstly this portal you are reading now. This will serve only as a blog style project update site. Secondly we have established a unique url with support options. And the new site, WORDPRESS UK, which will ultimately serve as a service site for WordPress projects.

WordPress UK : Long Term

This project is not something launched in haste to get another domain live. We have established a longer term business plan that will focus on growing the keywords, and the SERP placement for these. Using WordPress UK as a keyword seems ludicrous, but taking your time and steadily growing the project will ultimately return a really good site, with really good SERP placements.

Using the keyword search tools you should notice that major keywords, like WordPress doesn’t offer that much competition. Is this just optimistic to think that it wouldn’t be that complicated to start SERP ing for these keywords, and the associated search terms? The WordPress UK site is live, but after two months the site is due its first update and tweaks. We have already been indexed and getting impressions for WORDPRESS UK related searches, so we can move on now.
